Hope Te Aka Hana
BOARD MEMBER
Hope Te Aka Hana is an experienced leader and advocate with over six years’ experience across the reintegration, justice, and community sectors. She brings a strong governance perspective informed by both frontline practice and senior advisory roles, with particular strengths in strategy, operational oversight, risk awareness, and people‑centred decision‑making.
Hope currently works as a Senior Advisor – Business and Operations at Te Pā, supporting organisational strategy, research and evaluation, learning and development, and service improvement. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Māori Development with First Class Honours, and is completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management, majoring in Human Resource Management.
Hope has whakapapa to Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Mutunga, and Te Āti Awa, and is also a proud Samoan and Pākehā. She previously served as President of the Māori Women’s Welfare League (North Shore Peka) and remains committed to kaupapa‑driven leadership that uplifts mana, dignity, and opportunity for all but has a particular passion for Māori and Pasifika communities.
